This deep purple Sweet William (also known as dianthus) is part of my Secret Garden collection. While painting this flower and doing some research I found out that another name for it is a "Pink". As a child, I read in a Grimms Brother's fairytale about a prince who turned a servant girl into a "pink" in order to safely carry her home. I wondered for so many years what a pink was, and in researching it, I had trouble finding the answer. And now I know! I've found that art always leads me on so many new adventures, and gives me answers to questions that might not be important but still are just sort of fun to know.
